Ahsan A. Shaikh,
McDermott, Will & Emery



Ahsan Shaikh is a partner at McDermott, Will & Emery and is based in their Silicon Valley Office in Menlo Park, CA. His practice area includes strategic patent portfolio management and client counseling in software, hardware, internet technologies, and medical devices. Ahsan started both the Southern California and Bay Area chapters of the Alumni Law Society for the University of Chicago, and currently chairs the latter.

Prior to practicing law, Ahsan worked as a software engineer and web developer for Cisco Systems. This hands-on technical experience has contributed to his long history of successfully representing clients on a variety of technology issues.
Ahsan also serves as a regular guest speaker on issues related to software patents, computer hardware, the internet, open source development, and the video game/interactive entertainment software industry.  

Ahsan has written several articles on the legal issues faced by the software and video game industries, including articles in Forbes, Bloomberg, the National Law Journal and the San Francisco Daily Journal.  

Ahsan has also been quoted in Variety Magazine and Reuters, among other publications.
